When I was scanning the news websites this morning I saw the headlines about Miss California. During the contest a celebrity judge, Perez Hilton, asked her, "Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?"
She answered, "I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land that you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage and, you know what, in my country and my family I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anyone out there but that's how I was raised and that's how I think it should be between a man and a woman."Now it definitely could have been worded better but I admire her for saying it. The Perez lashed out on his web site calling her names and so on. I saw all the comments and I decided to read them even though I am not sure why. I was surprised to see that the majority of the comments were in support of Miss California. They were in support of her right to have her own opinion and the freedom to express that opinion. Shocker! What an old fashioned idea! Once again there are those people out there screaming day and night for tolerance when they have no intention having the same respect for anyone who doesn't believe like they do. Good for you Miss California!PS Miss North Carolina won! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!Monday, April 20, 2009

Blueberry baby

Well, I am eight weeks pregnant. According to my book the baby is the size of a blueberry. Here's a little insight into my day. I think most of you that read this have either gone through this or had a friend or wife go through it. This blog is merely to document for myself and perhaps get a little sympathy and pep talks!
I wake up in the morning feeling exhausted and nauseous. Toothpaste makes me sick. I cannot eat anything until I drink a little sprite. Then whatever I eat immediately makes me feel sick so I can only eat a little bit of whatever it is. A few hours later I start feeling weak and nauseous because I haven't really eaten anything. This usually makes me get extremely hot and my skin starts to get clamy. I usually fight that with a cold wet rag on my forehead. After ten minutes I usually get so cold my skin aches and I have to use a space heater for the next few hours. I get down a little lunch and feel sick for the rest of the afternoon. I am so tired all day that my eyes burn so I take a nap after work and wake up when Sam gets home. I make and eat some dinner and feel sick again. I drink some sprite in order to calm my stomach enough to take my vitamins and then I toss and turn all night. People keep telling me it is just for the first trimister, I sure hope so. :(

"One day maybe we'll find that baby makes three"
I am pregnant! I can't believe this! Sam and I have decided to start our family. He's almost done with school so the timing is perfect. Thanks to Meghan's advice I bought an ovulation test kit and also some pregnancy tests. I googled how to get pregnant. I mean...I had an idea but I was wondering if there was any tips I should know about. I stopped taking birth control in February and was supposed to start my period around March 14th. Today, on the 15th, I hadn't started so I took a test. Results come in 3 minutes but after 10 seconds there was a big purple plus sign. For some reason I thought that meant not pregnant so I started to cry and climbed back into bed. I told Sam it was negative and he pulled me closed and I just started bawling. I really believed that I was pregnant. I was so heartbroken. Sam reminded me that we read it usually takes 3 months to get pregnant after getting off birth control. I cried and cried while Sam assured me that we'd have a baby soon.
After I had calmed down Sam got up to go to the bathroom. I'm still hurting when Sam says, "Babe, I think you are pregnant." I got up and realized that the big purple plus meant pregnant! Sam hugged me so tight and we both cried. :) I still can't believe it. I took another one after breakfast and and another one Monday morning. All three came out positive too. It was one of the best days of my life! We took pictures of the tests and with the tests. I peaked at them everytime I walked past and I saw Sam doing the same. :)
